About Emily

Bay Area native Emily Holt began her career in New York as an editor at Vogue, W, and Women's Wear Daily. In 2014, she returned to the West Coast to bridge the gap between the designers being featured in these magazines and the collections that were available in Bay Area stores. She opened the original Hero Shop on Post Street in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood in 2016 (this location closed in 2020).

In 2019, Hero Shop opened its current flagship at the Marin Country Mart in Larkspur. There, the mix of labels from Vans and Levis to The Elder Statesman and Dries Van Noten embodies Northern California's high-low, casual elegance.

Emily's writing has also appeared in WSJ., The Wall Street Journal, Architectural Digest and Bon Appetit among others. Her commitment to the Bay Area extends to her support of organizations including Raphael House, 826 Valencia, Compass Family Services, and Creative Growth.
