This coat takes inspiration from a beaded piece from the 1920s and incorporates elements from a 1789 sampler. Samplers are traditionally used to teach and improve needlework abilities and have been a common practice for centuries, especially in early American craft. The coat features a reproduction of the sampler's pink, green, and yellow border, closed with a hidden hook-and-eye clasp and meticulously hand-beaded.
